The Original Process

Gay creates unique originals with a variety of processes, from darkroom creations to digitally manipulated photographs, which then are enhanced by hand-coloring with pencils, pastels and oils, resulting in a mixed media art form. New work is continually emerging through darkroom experiments and computer manipulations.



After the finished original photograph is scanned into her PC, or directly loaded via a digital file, she manipulates the image with a wide variety of tools from the programs Corel Painter IX and Adobe Photoshop CS2. Equipment and materials used include; 35mm Canon & Minolta cameras, Canon 10D & G-2, Mamiya medium format 645 & C3, T Max films, Ilford Multigrade Mat, RC & Fiber based papers, Sanford Prismacolor pencils, pastels, and Marshall Oils. Large digital images are studio archived and printed on metallic or e-surface Kodak papers at a professional color lab with Kodak traditional color processing. Small images are printed using an Epson 1280 or Epson 2000P, on papers rated from 25-100 year life span.


Commission Art Works

Special requests and commissions gladly accepted. Need a particular image? Contact us, it may be in the negative file. If not, commissioned images within the Pacific northwest are available. Prices subject to exact needs of client.

Cards & Ornaments

Specialty hand-made cards are available in many of the images seen on this site. Contact us or one of the representative galleries. Ornaments are made only in November and December and by request. Any image available. Prices range from $5.00 to $12.00 each.

Digital Creations & Photo-Editing

Since 1996, Gay has been creating unique imagery with a fabulous eye-opening tool- an Intel PC. She uses Canon digital cameras and also an Epson scanner to input her original photographs. With a Wacom tablet and stylus pen, she combines drawing skills and darkroom skills with the assistance of Corel Painter 9.0 and Adobe Photoshop CS2. Each digitally manipulated image is created over an average of 8 hours of studio time. Images are available in a limited edition of 50, archived and copyrighted.
The print output is selected by what paper Gay has chosen, either Kodak Endura color paper traditionally processed at a professional color lab, or on Epson archival heavyweight matte or luster papers, rated for a 200 year life span, printed by an Epson 1280 or an Epson 2000P. Commissioned works for logo design and advertisements are available, as well as digital photo-editing, including: restoration of old photographs, photo manipulation, and image combining/ collage. You can personalize items with your photos; greeting cards stationary, letterhead, or labels, the possibilities are endless! Digital photo-editing starts at $45.00 per hour.

Gay has been a professional retail picture framer since 1986. With her knowledge of the retail products available, her designs for presentation are a perfect fit for each image.
